BioPath

Involved researchers

The BIOPATH project will perform a full lifecycle assessment (FLA) in the specific ambitious field of biomass resources and all the value chain related to their use for energy generation / conversion. The regionalization of the energy plans, the adaptation to different regional context of technologies, market opportunities, local requirements can impact at a wider level, at European scale, on the fragmentation of standards and  on the lack of a unique method for a common evaluation of the biomass resources related to the energy use, to theregulatory framework, to the traceability and to the environmental impact.

Goals:

The BIOPATH project will introduce quality evaluation systems for a standardization of biomass and solid biofuels and the creation of a certified value chain. The traceability method will be able to assess a value for commercialized products, and their use in the different commercial contexts. The performance and reliability of boilers and the efficiency of energy conversion in biofuels depend significantly on the supplied fuel / organic compound.
